People now can expect fresh and pesticide-free vegetables at their door steps and at a lower cost. The Telangana government would introduce 51 mobile vans which would sell vegetables in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. Another 51 retail outlets will also be set up in selected colonies, marketing minister T Harish Rao said after a review meeting of the department here on Friday.
Similarly, fresh vegetables will also be sold through counters near government offices.
Harish Rao asked the officials to send proposals to the government for appointment of a CEO level special officer for effective functioning of Rythu Bazars at revenue divisions and also at cities for effective implementation of ‘Mana Kuragayalu’ scheme.
On marketing godowns, Harish Rao said that there is a dearth of godowns to store 21.54 lakh metric tonnes in six districts of Mahbubnagar, Medak, RangaReddy, Nalgonda, Khammam and Nizamabad districts.
