Panchayats to Go Online in TS

All the village panchayats in Telangana will soon have computers for online tax payment. The government will install around 2,400 computers in the first phase and 2,900 computers in the second phase in the villages. This is to release funds for the panchayats.

‘’The tax collections in several panchayats are very poor. Those panchayats which will collect 100 per cent tax will be given funds from the state government. The tax collection will be monitored online,” an official in the panchayat raj department said.

The online payment of taxes in the villages will be made at kiosks and each village will have one village-level entrepreneur (VLE). The VLE will get commission from the panchayats. “Around 8,500 youth in the state will get jobs in the panchayats, once the panchayats are made e-panchayats,” the official sources added.

Despite a large number of complaints from the public that they were not included in Asara scheme to get social security pensions, the PR department informed that there were 27,70,685 beneficiaries in the state for Asara as of now.

Of them, the district collectors approved 25,37,102 beneficiaries and the state government till Friday paid Rs 537.44 crore as pensions under Asara scheme. Of the total beneficiaries, so far 24,89,178 linked their bank accounts with Aadhar cards.

New GO for Dalit Christians: As assured by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday to Dalit Christians that all the benefits given to SCs will be extended to Dalit Christians, the PR department is drafting a GO to implement the same.

According to sources, the Dalit Christians will get all non-statutory benefits like nominated posts, three-acre land and others that are extended to SCs.
