Lok Sabha polls: Telangana Congress camp in confusion

It appears that the Telangana Congress camp has landed itself in confusion ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. The party is yet to finalize candidates in three Lok Sabha segments, and uncertainty looms regarding the candidature in one seat. With only two days left for filing nominations, the party’s indecisiveness is surprising the cadre.

In Khammam, the Congress is finding it difficult to compromise many factions within the party. While the Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka’s wife and Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s brother are vying for the Khammam ticket, it is reported that CM Revanth Reddy is preferring a non-local candidate. In Karimnagar, despite the party not announcing his candidature, Velichala Rajender Rao has filed a nomination on behalf of Congress.

Despite the Congress declaring BRS MLA Danam Nagender as its nominee from Secunderabad, uncertainty looms over his candidature as he is reluctant to resign as MLA. This incident has forced the grand-old party to scout new aspirants. In Hyderabad, the Congress party is even struggling to find a strong candidate.

While CM Revanth Reddy claims to be winning around 15 seats in the ensuing parliament elections, the ground reality seems to be different. The recent developments have altered the dynamics in the state and the party is clutching at straws
