Make in Telangana to Make City World Start-up Capital: KTR

“Walk in with an idea and walkout with a product, the State government will provide a platform to the young India-centric ideas for development of the country,” said IT and Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao.

Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘ReDx: Engineering the Eye’ workshop at the LV Prasad Eye Institute here Sunday, he said the government wants to make Hyderabad the start-up capital of the world, and hoped that in the coming years, the city will produce at least a few billionaire entrepreneurs.

The minister also lauded the Prime Minister’s push for entrepreneurship and digitization.

“I believe that good days are ahead for innovation and entrepreneurship. The PM is asking you to Make in India and I am asking you to Make in Telangana,” he said.

About 100 engineering and design students from across the country will work on prototypes for their innovations at the workshop from July 5 to 11 at the Engineering Staff College of India campus, Gachibowli.

“We are into the third year of our design innovation series and students who participate in the camp have the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most renowned scientists and doctors in an ongoing collaborative process that will facilitate exchange of ideas and conception of the future of industry,” said Dr GV Rao, founder-chair, L V Prasad Eye Institute.

The Design Innovation Series helps share LVPEI’s interdisciplinary research, design and development cultures and inculcate an attitude of hands-on creative learning among the students.

B V R Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director, CYIENT, said, “In India, we have an urgent need for low-cost healthcare. This is possible only through frugal innovation using some of the disruptive technologies.”
