Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been named the Chief Minister with the highest number of criminal cases in the country, according to a recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW).
Among India’s 31 Chief Ministers, Reddy leads with 89 cases registered against him, of which 72 are classified as serious offenses under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The report highlights that 13 Chief Ministers have declared criminal cases in their election affidavits. Of these, 10 face serious charges, including attempt to murder, kidnapping, bribery, and criminal intimidation.
Revanth Reddy’s list of charges includes criminal intimidation (IPC Section 506), promoting enmity between groups (IPC Section 505[2]), making provocative statements (IPC Section 505), cheating and fraudulent inducement (IPC Section 420), falsification of accounts (IPC Section 477A), and acts insulting religion or provoking religious sentiments (Section 295A).
