The Telangana political JAC expressed apprehensions over physical attacks on Telangana people in Seemandhra.
TJAC leaders felt that due to the wrong campaign by Seemandhra leaders, attacks on people from Telangana were increasing in Seemandhra.
“If Seemandhra leaders did not stop the wrong campaign against Telangana movement, they would face serious consequences from people of Telangana,” TJAC convener Prof Kodandaram warned.
Speaking at the TJAC steering committee meeting here on Saturday, Kodandaram said the Telangana movement was not against any region and it was started only to protect the rights of Telangana people. He alleged a few people of Seemandhra region were opposing Telangana to protect their capitalistic interests.
The meeting reviewed several incidents that took place recently in Seemandhra. In one case, a group of families from Suryapet of Nalgonda district who had gone to the Tirupatamma temple in Krishna district, were allegedly attacked by Andhra locals after seeing the Jai Telangana slogan on their vehicles.
Four people were seriously injured including one pregnant woman, Kodandaram added. Similarly, a few days back, two Telangana students were allegedly humiliated in Anantapur district when they went to join pharmacy collages. They also reviewed several minor incidents in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema districts.
TJAC convener and TNGO president K Swami Goud said they would not allow attacks on Seemandhra people in Telangana and also said they would give protection to Seemandhra people who were living in and around Hyderabad.
