The deployment of one company of paramilitary forces in Nagarjuna University has set off several speculations in the state. Rumor mills are working overtime to spin all kinds of stories on an impending Telangana announcement.
About 130 Rapid Action Force (one battalion) personnel landed at Nagarjuna University on Sunday night. This battalion was transported from Coimbatore in Tamilnadu.
While locals believe that this is a precursor to the announcement of Telangana state, police officials are stating that the deployment is intended for the local body elections.
Police officials also indicated that another battalion would be deployed in Nellore soon.
Providing accommodation to RAF personnel in Nagarjuna University, is the main reason for people believing that this deployment is related to Telangana announcement.
