Now community health centres (Basthi Dhawakhanas) across the state.

 

Similar on the lines of community health centres set up across the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), now the state government has decided to set up community health clinics in all municipalities, said Municipal administration minister Mr K T Rama Rao.

A total of 288 clinics would be set up in 141 local bodies all over Telangana state. The Health department, IT department and medical infrastructure department, and other agencies would coordinate in setting up these Basthi Dhawakhanas (health clinics).

With these 288, the total number of such clinics including those in GHMC limits would go up to 544. As of now, there are 256 clinics functioning in Hyderabad city offering free health care and some diagnostic services to the poor.

A review meeting was held by Health Minister Mr T Harish Rao and Municipal administration minister Mr K T Rama Rao.

It may be noted that in its recent report by Niti Ayog released on Monday, it ranked Telangana state as the third best state in providing the best health care to the people.

The ministers congratulating the staff of various departments wished that they would strive to secure the first rank to state the next year.

Municipal department secretary Aravind Kumar, Family welfare commissioner Vakati Karuna and others were present.
