Mana Ooru – Mana Badi programme already underway.

The prestigious programme announced by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to improve the government schools in Telangana is already underway.

As part of the pilot project, four schools were selected and improvements are being made and 40 per cent of works are over.

The programme will be launched this academic year itself and the state government had set 12 parameters for the implementation of the programme.

A total of Rs 7,289 crore was allocated for Mana Ooru – Mana Badi programme that envisages improvement of infrastructure and introduction of English medium among others. It will benefit nearly 20 lakh children studying in about 26,000 government schools.

A total of Rs 2,800 crore was set aside to implement the pilot project. The government studied the similar programme being implemented in Delhi and Andhra Pradesh states. New software is being prepared to oversee the implementation of Mana Ooru – Mana Badi in Telangana.

Education minister Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy said all the government schools will get a facelift besides improved infrastructure such as electricity, toilets and new classroom buildings. “The government schools will be on par with private schools in all aspects,” she said.
