The historic Osmania University College for women, Koti will be upgraded as the first Women University of Telangana state, said Education minister Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Presently, it is one of the constituent colleges of Osmania University and has autonomous status besides NAAC rating. AS many as 4,159 students are pursuing their studies in the college.
Following the state government’s decision to set up a women’s university, the officials were directed to prepare a detailed report to upgrade the college into a university.
The officials were asked to study the infrastructure needed, student accommodation, and basic amenities required for the new university.
It may be noted that the chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the chief secretary Mr Somesh Kumar to come up with a detailed report on the issue for the next cabinet meeting. It was also decided to set up an exclusive Forest University in the state as well.
