CPI has demanded the Manmohan Singh government to avoid dilly-dallying in announcing Telangana, as credibility of the Congress party is at stake. It also underlined the importance of consulting all stakeholders, in particular the political parties supporting separation and TJAC, which is spearheading the movement.
In a letter written to Singh, party General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy has asked him to deliver the State of Telangana with Hyderabad City as its Capital. “No Telangana without Hyderabad”, he stated.Further he emphasized that the status of Hyderabad should not be diluted as centrally administered city like Chandigarh. “Chandigarh is located exactly between Punjab and Haryana, while Hyderabad is in the heart of Telangana”, he noted.
Sudhakar Reddy also expressed aversion to the idea of Rayala Telangana, terming it as not a feasible proposal. Dividing Rayalaseema between two states is not correct because of political, cultural and geographical reasons. There should be meeting of all parties of Andhra and Rayalaseema separately to discuss about problem of new capital, assets and liabilities, he suggested. [The Hans India]
