Stating that the State government’s performance in its first year is ‘more than satisfactory’, Rajya Sabha member and TRS secretary general K Keshava Rao said there are some key sectors, which need immediate attention, to achieve Bangaru Telangana.
Delivering the inaugural address at a seminar on ‘A year of Telangana State, roadmap ahead’ organised by the University of Hyderabad (UoH) here on Friday, Keshava Rao said, agriculture and education are the priority sectors for the state government.
Rao felt that the quality of education had been diluted due to dominance of corporate institutes. The state government which is set to introduce KG to PG free education, has a proposal to form an advisory committee to design new reforms in higher education, he said.
He further said that the state government also has several plans to develop other major sectors like agriculture and irrigation. According to Rao, with the help of Mission Kakatiya programme, Telangana would become the only water surplus state in the country.
The TRS leader said the people of Telangana had no identity under the rule of Andhra leaders. “From movies to literature, their language ruled us for years. We felt discriminated. But the formation of separate State brought us our identity back,” he said.
