Ganesh Festival 2011 in Sydney, organised by Australian Telangana Forum, was a great success. Historically Telangana People have been organising Bathukamma, Telangana Liberation Day and various Telangana State related activities since 2006 under the banner TDF Australia.
In Year 2011, we have renamed our organisation as ‘Australian Telangana Forum’ and registered the organisation with Government of New South Wales, Australia. The new face of Telangana Community living in Sydney ‘Australian Telangana Forum’ is now decided to organise Ganesh Festival, Bathukamma, Liberation Day, Vana Bhojanam, Sri Bhadrachala Sita Rama Kalyanam, Ugaadi and New Year celebrations.
Ghanesh Festival started around 2pm by children starting with making Lord Ganesh Idols using the clay. At 4pm the traditional pooja started by Hindu Priests and completed around 6pm. Ganesh mandap was decorated with Banaana and Sugar cane leaves. 225 people attended the Pooja. Later Ganesh was taken to Parramatta River in a procession of cars for immersion. Laddu was auctioned by Treasurer Vani Elete and funds raised in Aus $355.
Telangana People offered prayers for the success of ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ and ‘Telangana State’.
The committee thanked the people who attended and made it a great success. At 7pm delicious dinner was served by Committee members.
Australian Telangana Forum is founded by a small group of Telangana People inspired by Late Prof. Jayashankar Sir and have been working since August 2006. Founder Members have elected the new Executive committee for year 2011-12.
The new members of Executive Committee are President: Ravikaanth,Vice-Presidents: Karuna & Devendar, Gen. Secretary: Someshwar, Joint-Secretaries: Madhav & Sujatha, Treasurer: Vani Elete, Public Officer: Upendar, and EC Members: Ram, Surendar, Saagar and Prasaad.
