Visit the Nampally Numaish and you will come across one stall which stands out proudly among the pan India stalls. Its illuminated name board displaying ‘Telangana Stores’ with a tag line of ‘mana angadi’ this store was started by Mr.Vittal, a former journalist, who chose to discontinue his career and start off Telangana stores.
True to its name this stall stocks everything associated with Telangana. Nirmal handicrafts, Bronze crafts from Pembarthi, textiles from Gadwal, Narayanpet, pearls from Narsapur and even Bidri artforms from Bidar adorn the shelves. Apart from this there are Telangana delicacies like Sarvapindi, Maleeda Muddalu and Sakinalu available.
Telagana related merchandise like T-shirts, key chains, diaries, pens, pen stands are a huge hit among the Numaish crowd. Interestingly not just Telanganaites, but visitors from across India, especially from the Andhra region are thronging to the stall.
All the counters in the Telangana Stores are managed by students from the Osmania University. Their main aim is to bridge the gap between the Telangana produce and consumers, as also to promote products which hitherto were not popular throughout the region. They are also planning to open permanent stalls in all the Telangana districts soon apart from starting an online store. For more information, you can visit their website at www.telanganastores.in
