After constable Srinivas Goud created history by raising “Jai Telangana” slogans at APNGOs meeting, another police constable has raised “Jai Telangana” slogans yesterday in state Assembly premises.
At about 12:30 PM, Constable Sanjeevulu, who hails from Medak district, created a flutter in state assembly by raising Jai Telangana slogans. He was immediately taken into custody by security forces.
Sanjeevulu informed media that he was concerned about the delay in Telangana state formation due to the conspiracies of Seemandhra leaders.
Congress Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, and other Congress MLCs, who were in the CLP building, immediately met the concerned police officers and urged them to release Sanjeevulu.
“When the CM himself is leading the Samaikyandhra movement, why is it wrong if a police constable raises Jai Telangana slogans”? questioned Gandra.
Sanjeevulu was later released from custody.
It is worth mentioning that a large section of the police force from Telangana region have now decided to back the statehood demand.
“In the past, we have used brute force to control the agitations in Telangana. We have beat our own people during the Telangana agitation. But Seemandhra police officers are ensuring that no force is used on Seemandhra agitators. Everyone – from DGP to police constable are supporting agitation in Seemandhra. From now on, even we will openly support Telangana statehood movement” said a police inspector from Telangana region on condition of anonymity.
