Union minister Manshuk Mandaviya has tendered an apology to BRS MP Nama Nageshwar Rao for misleading the house on Bulk Drug Parks. Mandaviya in his speech in the Lok Sabha had mentioned that in the first phase, Telangana along with Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh got Rs. 300 crores for Bulk Drug Parks.
While in reality, no funds were released for the promotion of Bulk Drug Parks in Telangana. In an answer to the question asked by BRS MP Borlakunta Venkatesh, the union ministry for chemicals and fertilizers had replied that though they have received a proposal from Telangana for setting up a Bulk Drug Park, the final approval was given only to Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.
However, in the speech, Mandaviya mislead the house by saying that Telangana got funds for Bulk Drug Parks for which Nageshwar Rao sought clarification and warned to move the privilege motion against the union minister for his misleading statement.
Realizing his mistake, in a written statement, the union minister responded and apologized to Nageshwar Rao for misleading the Lok Sabha on December 16. And acknowledged that Telangana hadn’t received any funds for Bulk Drug Parks. This acknowledgement is nothing but a gross injustice to the already well-established pharmaceutical ecosystem in Telangana.
