As part of the privatisation spree unleashed by BJP Government in the Centre, valuable railway assets are being readied for sell off in Telangana
The RLDA ( Railway Land Development Authority) has started the process the monetise these projects in the state.
Tenders were already floated for a large tract of land at Moula Ali, which is spread over 21 acres. The bidding for this piece of land will begin on September 2nd. Another piece of land at Nizamabad is also being handed over to a private developer soon. According to the plan, these parcels of land would be handed over to private players to develop and generate revenue for a minimum period of 45 years.
The RLDA, has a target of generating Rs 2,000 crore for the Indian Railways in 2021-22.
It may be mentioned here that there is a huge uproar across the country about the wholesale sell-off of public assets by the ruling BJP Government. Cutting across party lines, several political parties have already expressed their displeasure over this privatisation plan.
It will be interesting to see how the Telangana BJP unit will respond to the issue of privatising valuable railway assets in the state.
