The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee will soon announce its decision on supporting the candidate in the by-elections for Parkal seat.
Talking to reporters at Nekkonda on Sunday, TP-JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram said that the decision is likely to be announced in three days. He informed that the survey done under the supervision of professors of Kakatiya University on what should be the stand of JAC in Parkal was nearing completing. After analysing the survey findings, the JAC will announce its support for either TRS or BJP candidate.
While the TRS has fielded Muluguri Bikshapathi from Parkal, the BJP has announced the candidature of Dr P Vijaya Chandra Reddy. While both the parties are trying to gain the JAC’s support for their candidates, YSRC candidate Konda Surekha still remains the main contender for the seat. She was elected from the seat in 2009 elections and her disqualification under Anti-Defection Law necessitated the by-elections.
The TDP too is in the fray and has fielded Dharma Reddy as its candidate. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to campaign in the constituency where by-elections will be held on June 12.
Meanwhile, Prof Kodandaram alleged that the some vested elements were trying to exploit the differences between the pro-Telangana parties. He said some forces, at the behest of Seemandhra leaders, were trying to damage the statehood cause by taking advantage of the Parkal by-elections. (INN)
