YSR Congress party led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has entered into a political quid pro quo with the ruling Congress party. The deal was apparently struck during the recent visit of YS Vijayamma to New Delhi.
Sabbam Hari, the Congress MP from Anakapalle, who is close to Jagan, has played a key role in settling this deal.
According to the understanding reached, YSRCP MPs and MLAs voted for Congress nominee Pranab Mukherjee in yesterday’s presidential elections.
The first evidence of this deal was out when the AP state government issued a GO (Government Order) providing legal aid to all the 6 ministers who were involved in issuing the 26 GOs that benefitted YS Jagan.
Supreme Court has earlier directed the authorities to investigate all these 6 ministers. Accordingly, the CBI has initiated an investigation and even arrested minister Mopidevi Venkataramana.
Now, the latest move of state government to provide legal aid to these ministers means that the government is accepting that all these GOs are proper. Once the state government says no loss to exchequer has happened due to these GOs, the case against Jagan will not stand in the courts.
In return to this ‘help’ and a promise to issue bail to Jagan in the coming weeks, the YSRCP seems to have voted for Pranab Mukherjee.
In future, YSRCP will work as an independent party just like NCP and TMC, but will be a political ally of the Congress and be a member of the UPA.
The deal is a very big bad news for TDP. The party is already in a bad shape and a combined effort by YSRCP and Congress will blow death knell to TDP in Seemandhra region.
