The Telangana population constitutes 2.5 percent of the country’s population but is the fourth most significant contributor to the GDP of the country.
The IT minister Mr K T Rama Rao said double engine does not mean that the Centre and a state should have the same party ruling. But the real double engine is achieving progress.
Telangana is in 11th place geographically and in population, it is in 12th place.
Before the formation of a separate Telangana state, the per capita income is 1.24 lakh but now it is 2.78 lakh – it is doubled in real terms. This is the real double engine growth.
Mr Rao appreciated the party MPs who are trying to voice the concerns of Telangana in Parliament. The Central government should allow a debate to take place on increased GST, Non-Performing Assets (NPA) and increased prices of essential commodities, and inflation, he said.
The minister posted his thoughts on Twitter which got a very good response from the netizens.
