After hectic campaigning by the political parties for over one month, the Telangana state is going for the polling today on Thursday.
There are a total of 119 Assembly seats for which as many as 2,290 candidates are in the fray. The total number of voters is 3.26 crore. The officials have set up a total of 35,655 polling stations and drafted about 2.5 lakh personnel for the purpose.
The polling will take place from 7 am to 5 pm. In the 13 polling stations located in sensitive areas abutting the forests – naxal-affected areas, the polling will conclude an hour early that is by 4 pm.
The main political parties BRS, Congress, BJP, BSP, CPI, CPI (M), All India Forward Block and a scores of independent candidates are contesting the Telangana Assembly elections.
