HYDERABAD: Leaders of political parties and intellectuals from Telangana have ridiculed the report of Srikrishna Committee and termed it as a pack of lies with howlers and inconsistencies on several aspects of the region and its people, barring a few facts.

Speaking after releasing a book “Justice Srikrishna’s Injustice” published by Telangana Development Forum – India here on Sunday the leaders of Congress, TDP, TRS and BJP and intellectuals from different fields condemned the committee for citing the region’s people as subservient, lazy and often subdued. Such a reference was insulting and defaming the people.

Former member of the Planning Commission Ch. Hanumantha Rao said he had never come across any committee that withheld a part of its report. It presented everybody’s view except that of Telangana people. Irrigation expert Vidyasagar Rao said the mention of Bima and Nettempadu lift irrigation projects in Mahabunagar district as those being constructed on Godavari was enough to gauge the report’s quality.

Goutham Pingle criticised the committee for not making even a mention of Girglani reports on forest lands and 610 GO pertaining to Telangana. Former MP M. Narayana Reddy said by stating that status quo could not be continued the committee had accepted the need for separation of Telangana.

Senior leader of BJP Ch. Vidyasagar Rao said the history of communal harmony in the region would leave no space for apprehensions of religious fundamentalism as reportedly mentioned in Chapter 8. Professor of NALSAR University Madabhushi Sridhar said Chapter 8 was biased is it was based on committee secretary V.K. Duggal’s interactions with officials of only 17 districts.

Editor of Siasat Zahed Ali Khan said nobody could stop the realisation of Telangana if people resorted to violent methods. Nagam Janardhan Reddy of TDP called for unity among all those fighting for Telangana cause by stopping criticising one another. Congress MP G. Vivek said they would fight for Telangana till it was achieved.

Convenor of TJAC M. Kodandaram said there was a need to bring out more books based on reports submitted to the committee by Telangana intellectuals to educate people to achieve statehood.
