Following the instructions of chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Panchayat Raj department has taken up a special sanitation drive in all villages across Telangana state.
After the review meeting on heavy rains and flood situation, the chief minister has asked the department to take up a special drive to ensure the prevention of contagious and seasonal diseases.
The Gram Panchayat personnel were asked to stay put in their respective places of work and if needed any leave, they should take permission from the district collector.
All the Gram Panchayats were directed to spray bleaching powder, lime, bitex, and oil balls. They should also keep ready fogging machines. If they do not have, they should buy with Gram Panchayat funds or seek donations from generous people. They should also create awareness among people about the need to use mosquito nets.
The Sarpanch and Panchayat secretary should go around the village daily and ensure that there is no stagnation of water. They should also see that there is no contamination of drinking water. They should coordinate with the Mission Bhagiratha officials on the issue.
