Public outrage forced Congress govt to backtrack on Telangana’s new emblem

The Congress government has reversed its decision regarding the new emblem and the new statue of Telangana Thalli. This change comes after widespread public outrage over Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposal to alter the emblem.

Facing opposition from activists, political parties, and the general public, CM Revanth Reddy announced that the Cabinet will re-evaluate the matter. The BRS Party has strongly objected to the removal of Kakatiya Kala Thoranam and Charminar from the emblem and has warned of a state-wide protest.

Many people questioned the Congress government about the necessity of changing the emblem and raised doubts about the CM’s motives behind it. Following the outrage, the Congress government has backtracked on the decision for now.

On Thursday, the Chief Minister held a meeting with poet Ande Sri, music director Keeravani, and ministers regarding the state anthem. During the meeting, he announced the approval of ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’ as the state anthem. The song will be officially released on June 2 as part of the Telangana state’s decennial celebrations.
