For the first time, an open heart surgery was performed at the government hospital in Warangal. The MGM hospital that caters to the people of North Telangana districts which was in utter neglect for decadeshas been strengthened in the recent past.
This paved the way for the doctors to perform open heart surgery on one Waddepalli Swapna of Godavarikhani of Peddapalli district who came with her husband Kumar on September 8. The doctors after conducting a series of tests found a hole in her heart.
A team of doctors under the supervision of nodal officer Dr Gopal Rao performed the surgery successfully. Health Minister Mr T Harish Rao congratulated the doctors.
The incident amply proves how the government hospitals were strengthened after the formation of separate Telangana. Many of the Government hospitals were upgraded on par with corporate hospitals in the state recently adding ultra-modern equipment and expert staff.
