NDTV commissioned Ipsos, a leading market research agency, to conduct fieldwork for a nationwide opinion poll to assess the current political situation in the country. AP was one of the states surveyed by NDTV-Ipsos poll. The results show that the Telangana statehood movement is only gaining strength. About 86% of respondents in Telangana said they wanted a separate state.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which is spearheading the statehood agitation is slated to bag a majority of the seats in the region. While YSR Congress party is set to sweep the Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra.
The opinion poll results prove that Congress party’s last bastion has fallen due to its own follies. Quite surprisingly, the main opposition TDP is facing almost a political extinction in the coming election. The opinion poll indicates that TDP might get only one parliament seat if elections were held now.
