KTR all praise for Mission Kakatiya works in Khammam

Commending the district for making rapid strides in spearheading ‘Mission Kakatiya’, Minister for Panchayat Raj K. Taraka Rama Rao said the benefits that accrue from the programme will help revive and enhance water storage potential to the tune of 265 TMC, thus expanding the irrigation cover in the entire Telangana.

He was speaking after launching tank restoration works at Motlagudem in Yellendu Assembly constituency on Friday. Stressing on the need for expeditious completion of the tank restoration works under Mission Kakatiya by the end of May, Mr Rao said the well-conceived programme will help in optimum utilisation of a whopping 46,000 tanks in Telangana State. This will in turn contribute immensely to the mission of transforming Telangana into “Bangaru Telangana,” he remarked.

The State government has accorded a major thrust to the road infrastructure development, he said, adding that funds to the tune of Rs.1,500 crore will be spent on development of roads under the Panchayat Raj and R&B Departments in the State. Earlier, the Minister laid foundations for various road development works, including widening of the main road in Yellendu town and elsewhere in the constituency at an estimated outlay of Rs. 39 crore.
