KCR writes to PM on SC, ST reservations

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Tuesday told the Central government that it would support the policy of reservations and promotions to SCs and STs in public services which would help in the upliftment and overall empowerment of those sections. In view of the all-party meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday (May 23) under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the TRS spelled out its stand on the issue.

KCR has deputed former MP B Vinod Kumar to attend the important meeting and voice its support for the issue. In a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao urged the UPA government to extend the reservations and promotions in State-run institutions and organisations.
He also requested the Centre to extend the reservations in private sector where majority of the SC/ST population have higher chances of employment opportunities. KCR stressed the need to bring in necessary Constitutional amendments to avoid any further litigation arising out of this issue. [The Hans India]
