The Telangana IT & Municipal Administration minister Mr K T Rama Rao sought to know from the Central government why it did not bother to offer any help to flood-hit Telangana state. Since 2018, the centre did not release any funds when Hyderabad city witnessed floods in 2018, 2020, and now Godavari flood in 2022. For four years, there was not a penny of help from the Centre.
The Minister Mr Rao said the same BJP government had released huge sums to BJP rules states even without asking.
During the last four years, the Centre under NDRF released Rs 4,538.43 crore to Madhya Pradesh, Rs 1,000 to Gujarat, Rs 6,480.69 to Karnataka, Rs 157.23 to Uttar Pradesh, Rs 26.53 to Meghalaya, Rs 44.37 crore to Assam among others. In all the Centre released Rs 44,000 crore as flood relief to 21 states but not a rupee to Telangana state, he said.
Though the TRS MPs have been raising the issue in Parliament there is no answer from the government. However, when an MP from Assam sought information, he was given a written reply. The BJP had stooped to such a low level ignoring the states ruled by non-BJP which is very unfortunate in a democracy.
Mr Rama Rao reminded that Telangana witnessed heavy floods in 2019 and 2020. The chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao personally requested for release of Rs 1,350 crore and as a temporary relief wanted Rs 5,000 crore to be released by the Centre, but in there was no answer.
Mr Rama Rao, who is also the TRS party working president said the BJP MPs of Telangana are silent when the state is being discriminated against Telangana state by their own party in power at Centre. Their only job is to spew venom on CM Mr KCR and his party leaders. The welfare of people of Telangana people is the least priority for them.
