e-Panchayats to Provide Jobs to 10,000 Women in State

IT and panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao has said that they were planning to provide employment to around 10,000 women through the proposed comprehensive village service centres.

Addressing the Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) training camp at Rajendranagar here on Monday, Rama Rao said the village service centres would be maintained by women only. Around 10,000 VLEs would be given employment for maintaining the centres, he added.

When once the village service centres were fully operated, the e-Panchayat concept of the state would become a role model for the entire country, Rama Rao said. The e-Panchayat system would help the government to deliver all its services and schemes effectively to people in remote villages also.

The village service centres would bring a revolutionary change in the district administration, Rama Rao said. Distribution of NREGS payments, pensions and others would be linked with the village service centres, Rama Rao said. He said that the village service centres would also help in reducing corruption in implementation of government schemes.

The minister interacted with the VLEs, who were selected for the maintenance of the service centres. Nazima, who was selected as a VLE, told Rama Rao that she was earning Rs 4,000 per month in her village.
