TS Government Gives Nod for Building 60,000 2BHK Flats in State

The state government on Saturday sanctioned 60,000 two-bedroom flats to be constructed both in rural and urban areas in the state for the year 2015-16. There is no beneficiary contribution for these housing scheme and the entire cost of the unit will be borne by the funds available with the state and Central governments. A project monitoring unit will be constituted for implementing the massive housing programme.

In a GO issued on Saturday, the housing department accorded sanction for construction of 60,000 2BHK flats, of which 36,000 flats will be allotted to rural areas and 24,000 flats will be allotted to urban areas. Each Legislative Assembly Constituency will be allocated 400 two-bedroom houses from the 60,000 houses sanctioned.

The allocation between rural and urban areas shall be in the ratio of 240:160, if the constituency has both rural and urban areas.
The state government has decided the unit cost for two-bedroom houses in rural areas at Rs 5,04,000 and in urban areas it shall be Rs 5,30,000.

The funding available from Indira Awas Yojana and ‘Housing For All’ schemes of the Central government will be dovetailed to these 60,000 houses by the housing department, the orders said.

The entire programme will be implemented in all the districts by district collectors and by the Commissioner in GHMC area. Issual of guidelines for implementation of the programme and channelisation of funds will be done by the housing department and a project monitoring unit will be provided by the housing department for the purpose.

The commissioner, weaker section housing programme, Hyderabad is requested to approach the government for release of subsidy from out of Budget Provision 2015-16 as and when the need arises depending on the pace of construction of the houses sanctioned.
