Did Boora Narsaiah Goud make a wise decision?

Boora Narsaiah Goud, one-time MP and one of the popular faces during the Telangana movement, has parted ways with the ruling TRS. Though he cited his reasons to resign from the primary membership of the TRS party, the Munugode bypoll seems to be the catch.

Goud contested from the Bhongir parliamentary constituency in 2014 and 2019. Though he bagged the seat in 2014, he lost by a narrow margin in 2019. Political grapevine has it that Goud expected a TRS ticket from Munugode in the ensuing bypoll. But, the party supremo decided to field Koosukuntla Prabhakar Reddy, who won in 2014 and lost in 2018 just like Narsaiah Goud. In all likelihood, Goud could have been the TRS nominee from the Bhongir parliament in 2024 as there are no contenders for the seat at this moment.

It is clear that Goud expected a ticket from a place which was not his seat and now suddenly feels that backward classes in the constituency are ignored. Reportedly, the former MP is weighing options to join the BJP. Ironically, even the BJP has fielded a candidate from the Reddy community. If at all he joins BJP or Congress for that matter, how can he justify his decision as neither the BJP nor the Congress gave tickets to BCs?

The surgeon-turned-politician has also accompanied the TRS candidate during his nomination process in Munugode. And reportedly, one of the party’s key leaders held a two-hour-long conversation with him to address his concerns.

On the flip side, what if Komatireddy Venkat Reddy too joins the BJP just like his brother and if Narsaiah also decides to join the BJP? Then he might even find it difficult to get a BJP ticket from Bhongir as Venkat Reddy is the sitting MP of Bhongir.

Though the Goud community is one of the major caste groups in Munugode, Goud doesn’t enjoy any popular support from the community and it will not affect the TRS party’s prospects in Munugode. In all, whether Narsaiah made a wise decision or is he just confused, and what is in store for him has to be seen.
