Create Telangana without further delay

BJP senior leader and former Union minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao has urged prime minister Manmohan Singh to take steps for creation of a separate Telangana state in view of the situation in the region.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he said that due to delay in formation of a separate state many people were committing suicide and requested the prime minister to put end to this unending tragedy. Accusing the Telugu Desam and Congress of being responsible for the death of Bhojya Naik, an MBA student who committed suicide in Warangal on Saturday, Rao said the two parties were playing games with Telangana people and their sentiments.

He criticised the prime minister’s remarks that until the situation came to normal, there could be no further steps on the issue. He blamed the state government and the Congress for the prime minister’s remarks and alleged that the two were sending wrong reports to him on Telangana. He said the Congress was riven with internal bickerings and the party and the government were linking it to the Telangana issue and sending reports that the situation was not good in Telangana.

He appealed to Manmohan Singh and AICC spokesperson Renuka Chowdary not to provoke Telangana people with adverse remarks. As for TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, it was high time he spelt out his party’s stance on Telangana, Rao said. On government’s functioning, the BJP leader criticised the state government’s delay in forwarding files to the Centre for prosecution of IAS officers involved in the Emmar and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cases
