IT and Industries Minister, Sridhar Babu, has categorically stated that the Congress government is considering imposing limits on the Rythu Bandhu assistance.
The minister mentioned the potential imposition of a cap on the number of acres eligible for assistance. He emphasized that the benefits of the scheme might not be extended to those who are not actively cultivating the land.
During the Assembly elections, the Congress party promised to introduce Rythu Bharosa, to extend input assistance of Rs. 15,000 per acre, in place of Rythu Bandhu as soon as it assumes power. However, it went back on its promise and continued with Rythu Bandhu for this season.
Numerous complaints have arisen regarding many farmers who are yet to receive the Rythu Bandhu amount, despite the government’s claim of disbursing it to all.
