The state government has decided to extend the Dalit Bandhu scheme to 1100 beneficiaries in 118 constituencies. Chief Minister KCR has signed the file after occupying his new chambers in the newly built secretariat releasing Rs. 17,800 crore for the purpose in this second year.
The government had already extended the benefit under the Dalit Bandhu scheme to 38,323 people allocating Rs. 4,000 crore. The scheme envisages providing Rs. 10 lakh direct cash benefit to each dalit family to empower them. They were supposed to utilise money to become entrepreneurs and double their income.
Chief Minister KCR has launched the scheme in Huzurabad constituency first and covered all the families there. Now it was decided to benefit 1100 families in each constituency and cover all the beneficiaries in a phased manner. It has immensely benefited many families since it was launched. Many beneficiaries began earning good amounts on a regular basis.
It was the brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar and despite criticism from the opposition leaders, he went ahead.
