A total of 5,544 contract employees working in 40 government departments were regularised with one stroke by the chief minister KCR. Immediately after assuming office in the new secretariat building on Sunday, he approved the GO 80 issued by the finance department. It came a day before the May Day, which is celebrated the world over.
During the Telangana movement, Mr KCR vowed to end the contract system of employment. However, some opposition leaders instigated the contract employees and moved courts thus delaying the process. Now, the contract employees are very happy as their services and benefits are on par with regular government employees and they will be eligible for promotions and increased salaries.
The contract employees thanked the chief minister KCR for keeping up his promise and his kind gesture. TGO association president V Mamatha and other leaders met and thanked CM KCR.
