Charminar & Golkonda may become World Heritage sites

The state government has filed nominations for the declaration of Charminar, Golkonda and Qutubshahi Tombs as World Heritage sites by UNESCO.

GHMC commissioner, M T Krishna Babu, who came to inspect old city informed this to media.

Krishna Babu also held a review meeting with Rajath Kumar, commissioner, Tourism on the issue of declaration of World Heritage Sites on Monday.

He said that the UNESCO team would visit these sites in October to decide on this. He expressed hope that these sites would qualify for the rare distinction and said that once recognized, these sites could be developed with the funds that come with UNESCO recognition.
