By-poll to Munugode Assembly seat likely soon.

The Election Commission will soon take a decision on the timing to conduct by-election to the Munugode Assembly (93) seat in Nalgonda district.

The sitting Congress MLA K Rajagopal Reddy tendered his resignation to his seat and is likely to join BJP. He said he was resigning in protest as the TRS government did not help him develop his constituency. He also accused his party leadership on various counts.

Mr Rajagopal Reddy submitted his resignation on Monday and within a few minutes, it was accepted by the Speaker Mr Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy.

Meanwhile, both the Congress and BJP have already started their election campaign work accusing each other of colluding with the ruling TRS party. However, the TRS leaders remained calm over the issue to date.

The BJP which argued that frequent elections were burdening the people and exchequer and favoured simultaneous elections to Assembly and Parliament has now imposed another election on the people of Telangana. It exposed the double standard of the BJP.

There was no answer either from Mr Rajagopal Reddy or BJP leaders why the Munugode seat needed election now.
