Blue revolution takes Telangana by storm proving skeptics wrong.

HYDERABAD: Many skeptics including the then AP Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy questioned what if Telangana gets statehood. He said it would plunge into darkness while others said it would go astray and so on.

It is time for them to sit and take note – among many achievements – now the Blue Revolution took by storm within just five years in separate Telangana state, thanks to the vision and initiatives of chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The total fish production was increased by 131 percent creating a total wealth of Rs 11,606.6 crore. This resulted in phenomenal income for the 3.24 lakh fishermen families (who depend on traditional vocation) of the total 27.14 lakh fishermen population.

From 2016 to 2021 a total of 14,000 reservoirs were created and fish production was undertaken. The Kaleswaram project, Mission Kakatiya tanks, Streams, and Tanks that were filled for irrigation and drinking water needs were also made use of bringing about the blue revolution in Telangana state.

The total fish production that stood at 1.93 lakh tones in 2016-2017 went up by 3,49,000 lakh tones in 2020-2021 thus registering an increase of 131 percent growth.

Besides reviving the age-old tanks through Mission Kakatiya, undertaking new irrigation projects, renovation of canals and defunct tanks, the free distribution of fish seedlings greatly helped the fishermen community in the state that was in disarray due to the apathy of erstwhile governments, particularly in Telangana region.
