The suspense over Bharatiya Janata Party’s nominee has finally ended. The party has chosen a professor of orthopaedics and practicing doctor P Vijayachander Reddy as its candidate for the Parkal assembly by-election.
Dr. Reddy belongs to Lyadella village of Atmakur mandal in the district and has been working as professor of Orthopedics at Kakatiya Medical College and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
He was a Swayam Sevak since 1978, and an activist of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat leader in college days and was the President of Kakatiya Medical College Students Union in 1981 to 1983. The doctor has been active in the India Medical Association and is popular among people of Warangal district.
After postponing the issue of selecting candidate for the Parkal by-poll for more than 10 days, the BJP leaders gave lot of thinking in selecting the candidate Dr. Vijayachandra Reddy.
While TRS, the YSRCP and Congress candidates belong to backward community, BJP selected its candidate from a different community. Reddy has good reputation as an experienced doctor, a social activists and also as the activists of Hindu organisation. [The Hans India]
