The election commission has announced the schedule for Banswada assembly constituency. The notification for this election would be released on 19th September and the election would be held on October 13th.
Banswada seat fell vacant after senior Telugu Desam MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy resigned to the party and his MLA post in protest against TDP’s anti-Telangana stand.
Pocharam Srinivas Reddy later joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
It would be interesting to see if TDP and Congress would dare to contest this by-election.
People of Telangana are vexed with the double standards of TDP and Congress and have already taught these two parties a fitting lesson in the 2010 Telangana by-elections. While TDP lost deposits in all the 12 seats it contested, Congress too was battered severely.
So, while Pocharam’s win is guaranteed, the only point of interest is how badly will TDP and Congress lose this election.
