Only last week, MissionTelangana published an article about the 7 blunders committed by BJP leadership, which resulted in the decimation of the saffron party in Telangana. But, by announcing Jagga Reddy as the party’s candidate for Medak, it looks like BJP has nailed the proverbial last nail it its coffin.
Known for his eccentric ways, Jagga Reddy was famous for all the wrong reasons. His stiff opposition to Telangana statehood and his frequent utterances in media, distanced him from the people of Telangana.
After losing miserably from Sangareddy in the just concluded elections from Congress party, Jagga Reddy’s political career ended for all practical purposes. He stayed in the Congress party until yesterday. Just a couple of days back, he fought bitterly within Congress party and secured the Medak District Congress Chief post.
And yesterday late afternoon, he just switched loyalties to become BJP’s nominee for the Medak Lok Sabha seat.
As expected, BJP party came in for severe criticism both online and offline. The social media was abuzz with netizens opposition to Jagga Reddy’s candidature.
Old videos of Jagga Reddy assaulting a villager for questioning the quality of rice, and also the case of Jagga Reddy distributing cash and other inducements to voters during recent elections, are being shared widely on the Social Media.
The news that rabid Telangan hater Pawan Kalyan recommended BJP ticket to Jagga Reddy has further angered Telanganites.
In the last general elections, BJP lost deposit and stood third in Medak. With Jagga Reddy’s candidature, the party might just lose whatever little cadre or votes it has in this constituency.
Political commentators say this episode only proves how far removed BJP’s leadership is from the thinking and aspirations of Telangana people.
