The famous Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple now renamed as Yadadri temple would be open to public from March next year, said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The temple would be inaugurated on March 21 and Mahakumbha ritual will take place on March 28. There would Mahakumbha Yagam with 1008 Homa Gundams where Vedic pundits from across the world will take part to sanctify the renovated ancient temple on Yadadri hillocks.
“The construction of Vimana Gopuram needs 125 kg of gold and on my part, I will be donating 1 kg 16 tola gold and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy agreed to give One Kg gold. Many are coming forward to donate gold and if required, the state government will buy gold from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Mr Chandraasekhar Rao took up this prestigious renovation of the historic temple to make it a destination for devout on the lines of Tirupati and sanctioned Rs 1,800 crore for the purpose and work began in 2016 soon after the formation of separate Telangana. Last time it was the then Seventh Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan who granted Rs 82,825 to this temple.
It lost the patronage of the rulers in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and lost its sheen. Mr KCR vowed to bring back its glory and took up this prestigious project that had come up excellently with awe-inspiring renovation.
Mr KCR showered several promises such as free house plots to temple employees and housing to journalists among others. He said free bus service would be in place for devotees up the hill. As many 250 cottages are being built in the temple town and there are many such facilities coming up by March next year.
Earlier in the day, Mr KCR undertook an aerial survey and also personally walked every inch of the temple inspecting ongoing works for several hours with officials.
