Women safety is the topmost priority of Government of Telangana, said Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali. He also stated that women have been ensured with equal rights and opportunities in Telangana.
He made the above remarks at a program organized in the city on the occasion of the National Girl Child Day.
The program was organized by Mahitha, (a child rights NGO) in collaboration with the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare, and Government of Telangana. The theme for the program was Empowering Girls for a Brighter Future.
During the program, the minister also mentioned that the Government of Telangana has been actively working towards the eradication of child marriages.
About 600 girls from various parts of Hyderabad attended the event at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium, Nampally.
“Given an opportunity, there is nothing girls and women cannot achieve” asserted Ms. Anita Kumar, Senior Program Manager- Plan India.
Also present at the program were Ms. Susheela Reddy, Regional Organiser, Ms. K.R. S Laxmi Devi- Joint Director, Admin, Ms. Lalitha Kumari, Joint Director- Schemes, Mr.V. Ramulu, Regional Director- Hyderabad, Ms. T. Venkata Narasamma, DEO- Hyderabad Dr. Yeshwanth Rao, Secretary Paediatric Association of Telangana State.
