Water Grid to Yield Results in a Year: KTR

Within an year from now, the ambitious Water Grid project would start yielding results as few areas in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar would receive piped drinking water, panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao has said. The minister reviewed the ongoing works of the project on Tuesday and expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the in-take wells had reached a safe stage.

He instructed officials to ensure the construction of in-take wells within the stipulated time. He told officials to prepare a schedule listing out the various aspects of the works and their tentative completion dates. Efforts should be made to ensure that the fluoride-affected Nalgonda and drought-prone Mahbubnagar be given water first, he said.

He also instructed them to ensure that the WAPCOS completed the scrutiny of DPR. The minister said the government would launch a website to provide information on the ongoing works of the Water Grid. He would convene a meeting to discuss about laying a fiber optic cable for providing internet to all households.
