ACB slaps notices on TDP MLA

The cash-for-vote case took a dramatic turn on Tuesday with the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau serving notices on Telugu Desam Party MLA from Sattupalli Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, besides former MLA Vem Narender Reddy who was the party candidate in the recent MLC elections.

The notices were served to the TDP leaders under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which seeks to examine them as witnesses in the case. According to sources, similar notices would be served on two TDP MPs CM Ramesh and Garikapati Mohan Rao late on Tuesday or early Wednesday to record their statements.

The latest ACB notices lend credence to the reports that the ACB has prepared ground for serving notices on AP Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, who allegedly talked to the nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson as part of securing his support to the TDP candidate in the MLC elections.

According to official sources, two teams of ACB officials headed by Deputy Superintendents of Police went to the residence of Veeraiahat Hyderguda MLA quarters No. 208 to serve the notice. The notices are said to be based on the confession of the accused persons UdaySimha and Sebastian.

However, the MLA was not available at his residence and ACB officials served the notice to an inmate in the quarters with a request to inform the MLA come down to the ACB office and cooperate in the ongoing investigation in the bribery incident involving TDP MLA Revanth Reddy and TRS nominated MLA Stevenson.
