Team India won the first-ever women’s under-19 T20 world cup beating the England team and Gongadi Trisha, a girl from Telangana shined in the final match.
Trisha, a local of Bhadrachalam, scored 24(29) while chasing 69 runs in the finals. Trisha moved to Hyderabad for cricket coaching and became an emerging cricketer in no time. Trisha’s father had to sell his farmland and leave his job as a fitness trainer to support his daughter in realising her dream of playing for India.
On winning the world cup, Trisha said that it was a proud moment for her and everyone in Hyderabad, Bhadrachalam, and Telangana was happy.
Congratulating the Indian cricket team on winning the glory, minister KTR wrote, “Many Congratulations to the Indian young women led by Shafali on winning the first edition of U19 T20 World Cup. Special shout out to Telangana girl Trisha who did exceedingly well.”
