Telangana govt. planning to move High Court over budget row with Governor

The Telangana state government that is planning to place the budget in Assembly on February is yet to get a nod from the Governor. The Finance secretary had already met Governor Tamilisai and submitted a detailed report seeking her approval for the government to place the budget in Assembly. However, there was no reply from till date.

As per the Constitution, the Governor’s approval is mandatory for the state government to place the budget. Several attempts were made by the state government seeking Governor’s approval but she reportedly sought to know whether there will be Governor’s address.

Since then both the government and Governor remained silent leading the row in a stalemate. It was learnt that state government was planning to move High Court seeking its intervention in ending deadlock.
