TS May Relax Upper Age Limit for Constable Posts

The state government is all set relax the upper age limit by three years for recruiting police constables. The maximum age limit for recruitment of constables is 22 years and the government may increase it to 25 years.

According to sources, DGP Anurag Sharma made a proposal to increase the maximum age limit by three years at the meeting of Cabinet sub-committee on home affairs held at the Secretariat here on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by home minister N Narasimha Reddy.During the discussions, the DGP proposed that the maximum age limit should be increased by three years. According to sources, the cabinet sub-committee reportedly approved the suggestion and decided to place it before chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao to take a decision.

The state government has already enhanced the upper age limit to other jobs from the current 34 years to 44 years.

Meanwhile, the state government has also done away with the test of 5 km run for constable recruitment.

The state government has recently announced to recruit around 8,000 constables in various categories.

The cabinet sub-committee also discussed about increasing the ex gratia amount to be paid to those police personnel who died or injured in terrorist or extremist violence.

The government was planning to increase the amount to be paid for constables who either died or injured in extremist, terrorist violence. IT minister KT Rama Rao and other officials were present at the meeting.
