Telangana Joint Action Committee and TRS are gearing up for the Sadak Bandh protest in a big way. TRS party has already appointed its MLAs as incharges for various sections of the Bangalore highway. TJAC’s constituent parties and organizations like BJP, New Democracy have already activated their cadres for this protest program.
TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram requested people to postpone their travel plans for the day to facilitate the protest program. He said the Sadak Bandh protest would once again echo the Telangana statehood aspirations in the power corridors of Delhi.
TRS leader Harish Rao urged the Telangana leaders from all parties to participate in the Sadak Bandh. He said that the state government can’t stop a popular peoples’ movement by suing brute police force.
The State government, on the other hand, is resorting to severe repression on Telangana activists. Already over 2000 bind-over cases have been foisted on Telangana activists in 10 districts of Telangana. The SPs of Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy have declared prohibitory orders across the Bangalore highway.
With thousands of Telangana activists preparing to stall the national highway, the situation across the two districts is tense.
